Today I would just like to include a short post to share a couple of books with you. Books with natural remedies always come in handy at home to check what you can do in case of illnesses, small ailments or even when accidents occur around the house.

I would love to get your feedback in case you already own some of these books. Feel free to leave me a comment at the end of this post.

1. The Complete Book of Ayurvedic Home Remedies. Vasant Lad

This book can be considered an encyclopaedia as it classifies ailments alphabetically, proposing a variety of foods, remedies with herbs and routines. This book is ideal to check different options for treatment when it comes to small imbalances and common diseases like the flu, colds, infections and different types of indigestion, to name a few. It gives you an alternative to the usual medication like ibuprofen or paracetamol. In summary, this is a great book to have on your shelf for day-to-day consultations.

2. Timeless Secrets of Health & Rejuvenation. Andreas Moritz

I have said this many times: the wisdom and advice Andreas Moritz (27/01/1954-21/10/2012) has given in his books literally saved my life after many years of physically, mentally and emotionally intoxicating myself. When Andreas Moritz was a child, doctors told him he wouldn’t live to be an adult3 books on Ayurvedic Remedies meaning he would live no more than 12 years. During his teenage years he decided to study different systems of ancient and natural medicine to find relief for his own ailments, looking for the causes of the diseases he was suffering from. Ayurveda was one of his main areas of focus.

The book is a recompilation of different systems like naturopathy, shiatsu, Chinese medicine and of course Ayurveda. It’s the most complete work Andreas Moritz has written. It also contains all the necessary information about the liver and gallbladder flush (even though he has written a separate book about it as well), of which I have spoken with many of you during consultations.

3Ayurveda: The Science of Self-Healing. Vasant Lad

Here we have another great book written by Dr. Vasant Lad. It’s a bit different from the book listed earlier in the sense that it contains more detailed information regarding pathologies and health issues that are common in the Western world. Dr. Lad explains what kind of remedies to apply according to one’s constitution or prakruti (predominant doshas), giving a bit more background information regarding these ailments. On the other hand, this book gives you a better insight on the history and philosophy of Ayurveda. Like I always tell my customers, it’s important to know the basics, as Ayurveda is so much more than a system of medicine. It’s an art of living, a lifestyle.
