What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese healing technique developed in the early 20th century by Mikao Usui. The word Reiki is composed of two Japanese words: Rei (universal) and Ki (life energy). This life energy flows through every living being, keeping us vital and in balance. When this energy becomes disturbed or depleted, we may feel exhausted, stressed, or unwell. When the energy flows freely and strongly, we experience a sense of calm, health, and well-being.


During a Reiki session, I act as a channel for this universal life energy and transmit it through gentle hand placements. The hands are positioned on or just above different areas of the body, often corresponding to the chakras, our main energy centers. In this way, energy blockages can be released and the body’s natural self-healing ability is activated.


Reiki is a non-invasive, safe, and natural method that does not involve equipment or medication. It can also be perfectly combined with other medical or therapeutic treatments. A session typically feels warm, soothing, and deeply relaxing. Because Reiki works not only on the physical body but also on the emotional and spiritual levels, it supports a holistic balance of body, mind, and energy.
