CAN YOU THINK OF THE DARKEST MOMENT IN YOUR LIFE? I can think of a few specific moments when I felt my soul was trapped in a dark hole, and it felt very lonely, even if I was surrounded by large groups of people. It happened to me during my childhood, but also when I was already in my 20s and 30s. By the age of 20 I had attended more funerals than weddings or first communions. Instead of celebrating life, often felt I was surrounded by death and sorrow.

As some of you know, my healing process began when I started to suffer from anxiety. I always felt my panic attacks were just moments of me trying to free myself from darkness, be it because of the low vibrations of the space, a situation I felt trapped in, or the feeling of someone or something (from the past or present) holding me down. While the feeling was horrible, (I would literally feel as if I were dying), there was always a deep sense of calm and emotional release after an attack, as if I had just ridden a storm and could finally see a few rays of light coming through these dark, heavy clouds.

Stepping out of the dark meant learning to love myself, but not in a way you would when you look in the mirror and smile at yourself. I mean real, deep love for yourself and every single cell you are composed of. Only then can you love others. When you walk the path of truth, some people who were in your life until that moment will disappear, where others will come into your life. And you might not even behave a certain way for this change to happen. But you know that something inside of you is shifting and you start to emanate light, as if you are finally discovering who you truly are.

I always compare it with travelling by train (call it the train of life, if you will 😉). You don’t always make it to your final destination with the same people, and that is fine. Some of your fellow travelers will get off the train after a few stops, while others might leave the train later to catch another one.

We make it so complex when we talk about our journey, when in fact, it can be very simple. Follow your heart, be true to yourself and whatever you do, do it with the right intention: do it with and out of love.

SOMETHING HAPPENED TO ME WHEN I WAS IN #JAPAN LAST NOVEMBER… I had been thinking of writing about it for quite some time, but I just didn’t feel ready. Until today.

The first day when I woke up in #Tokyo, I started to feel a lot of pressure on my third eye, right between my eyebrows. It was almost unbearable, and it became more and more intense as each day passed. After I arrived by bullet train in #Hiroshima and travelled to my hotel, from the bus I looked at the people on the street going about their day. I identified with them, I felt we were so much alike, the way they moved… Even their skin color seemed similar to mine. I started crying so hard, I could barely breathe. You see, it turns out I spent many of my past lives in Japan. It seems I was always a doctor, therapist or dentist. Whatever I did for a living, I was always a healer. Even my DNA test shows I have roots in Japan.

As I climbed Mount Kurama, the birthplace of #Reiki (near #Kyoto), I felt a profound connection, as if I was coming home. I crossed paths with other Reiki healers on the mountain, all elderly and Japanese. And while we didn’t speak the same language, we understood each other as we looked each other in the eyes and greeted one another. I ended the day eating at the temple at the foot of Mt. Kurama. All of the ingredients of my meal were harvested by monks on the same mountain. I was showered with unconditional love that day.

My intention was never to become a Reiki Master or Practitioner. I was just in a dark place in my life, and I figured that if I could find the tools to heal myself, I could help others heal too. And that is all I want to do in this life: increase my reach to help others and give love through the tools I have. And so, over the years I read, studied and practiced, every single day. When I returned from Japan, more and more people started coming to me for Reiki. My initial focus was just Ayurveda. But since my trip I feel a tremendous shift, and I enjoy it so much, because the ‘ki’ flows different ways every single time, and I feel I create a bond with the other person on a level that is subtle, yet deep and so beautiful, it cannot be expressed with words. ❤

Because it warms my heart every time I remember this moment, this day, the people that walked the beginning of this path of #yoga with me, souls who have become friends for life, I add it as a post too.

We laughed together, and we cried together. Even when far away from one another, we will always be connected.

Forever grateful for the lessons... for the easy lessons, and especially the most challenging ones.
